CNKTID

Account guide

Copy trading in an IRA.

Retirement accounts can copy option strategies — within the limits your broker sets for that account.

Can I copy trade in my IRA?

If your broker allows options in your IRA and you link it to CNKTID, you can copy strategies into it. CNKTID works with brokerage accounts, including IRAs, as long as the account's option approval covers the trades.

Option approval levels matter

  • Brokers approve each account for certain kinds of option trades. IRAs usually can't use margin.
  • Before every opening trade, CNKTID checks your account's option approval level. If a trade needs more than your account has, it's skipped for that account.
  • Defined-risk trades, like buying options or spreads, are the kinds most often allowed in retirement accounts.

Things to weigh

  • Retirement money is long-term money. Only copy an amount you can afford to lose.
  • Tax treatment depends on your account and situation — ask a tax professional.
  • You choose the amount, set a loss limit, and can stop at any time.

Trading options involves risk, including loss of principal. Past performance does not guarantee future results. CNKTID is a software platform, not a broker-dealer or investment adviser, and is not affiliated with TastyTrade or any company named on this page.
